I found this interesting article on Tech Crunch. Apparently some hacker named ”Hacker Croll” has hacked into twitter and taken “hundreds” of personal and confidential documents.
Tech crunch is apparently debating weather to publish the documents stating “It’s not our fault that Twitter stored all of these documents and sensitive information in the cloud and had easy-to-guess passwords and recovery questions.” The speed at which info is processed and desiminated nowadays is staggering and it is no wonder t
hat security tends to suffer as people would rather be able to access their info freely and not have to jump through too many security hoops. This is a very good example of the problem with an unrealistic expectation of privacy on a network. I think most people go about they everyday bussiness not even worrying about how to properly protect thier personal info. It is interesting to see a social networking site fall victim to something that seems to have been in the realm of the expected and preventable.
